Yardley Griffin Jr.

 

A wise man once said “A job you can quit, a dream you can give up, but a calling will chase you forever.” Black Market Blues very own Yardley Griffin Jr. is a true testament to this statement. 

 

Yardley Wendell Griffin Jr. was born and raised in Sacramento, CA, and knew early on what he wanted in life and he wasted very little time before embarking on his journey. Most people spend their entire lives trying to figure out “what they want to be when they grow up”, but Yardley had his mind made up long before that. At the tender age of seven he accepted Christ and to this day he acknowledges that even as a young child he clearly heard the voice of God speak to him and say , “That is what I want you to do!”

 

Although young in age, Yardley’s experiences are definitely beyond his years. This too began early on. As Pastor Yardley grew, so did his commitment to serve. After being admitted to Morehouse College, he served as a Martin Luther King Jr. International Chapel Assistant. He also served as the praise and worship leader for St. Peters Baptist Church of Atlanta. He later became the Youth Minister, Worship Leader and Pastoral Assistant at the New/Greater Faith Church. Lastly, Pastor Yardley has served in many capacities over his life at the Greater Faith/Destiny Church of Sacramento, CA. 

 

Like his spiritual growth, his musical growth has also been a life changing journey. Yardley has a drive that is un-paralleled, and this work has already earned him many achievements. Some of his most noteworthy works include a live recording with the Encore Production, titled “The Experience”, and his winning of Sacramento’s “Hub’s Choice” Black Music Artist of The Year for 2007, in the Neo-Soul category. In that same year, he also took 2nd place honors for of the “Sacramento Idol” singing competition, amongst a list of stellar male performers. Yardley’s complete list of accomplishments is long, and his successes can be directly attributed to his work ethic, his faith in God, and his strong foundation of family and friends that have believed in, and supported him from day one. 

 

Two of Yardley’s lifelong dreams were to be a Spiritual leader serving beside his father and to also fulfill his passion for musical entertainment. Both of these amazing dreams can now be checked off of his bucket list. Pastor Yardley has…and continues to serve beside his father, and he has also shared the stage with some of the greatest world-renowned Gospel recording artist in the world, to include, Kirk Franklin, Fred Hammond, Yolanda Adams, Marvin Sapp and Bryron Cage… to name a few. And in 2011 Paster Yardley was ordained as an Elder assigned to be Pastor-Designee. 

 

As a much sought after worship leader, singer/songwriter and entertainer, Pastor Yardley travels abroad sharing his gift of song and lifting hearts. In addition, he has regularly is requested to conduct workshops and lead worship services. One of Paster Yardley’s most recent projects is his own musical group known as “RADIO” who bring a incredibly entertaining show where Yardley has the opportunity to showcases his talents. 

 

Not only is Pastor Yardley an amazing man of God, he is also a proud father of one daughter, Myelah Jade Griffin. He understand how he has to set an example for her that anything that you can dream, you can do.
